Dog Park Approval!

02/26/07

After 7 plus years, the Morro Bay Pups, a project group associated with SLOPOST (San Luis Obispo Parks Open Space and Trails Foundation – a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization) got the Morro Bay City Council to approve a permanent, fenced, off-leash dog park at Del Mar Park in Morro Bay.

The Mayor offered the following motion at the February 26, 2007 City Council Meeting:
"... the City will establish the Dog Park as a City Project, that the Dog Park will be fenced at its current location on the south/west corner at Del Mar Park (to stay in this location until such time that the tennis courts may be built) with a proposed alternate on the north/west end of Del Mar Park as a permanent Dog Park site after the tennis courts are built; that an MOU be established between the Morro Bay Pups and the City on establishing responsibilities for the Dog Park; and that the Master Plan for Del Mar Park be amended to address these changes."
The vote passed 3-2.
